Trifoliate Orange

Flavor: Similar to an extra sour lemon crossed with a grapefruit when raw. When processed into a juice, marmalade or candy; they have not only a delicious flavor, but also many health benefits.
Types: There is much speculation over the classification of this species. General consensus is that it is closest to a citrus. The shrub originates from northern China and Korea.
Where: Can be found all over the United States with much being in the South.
When to Harvest: Fall
Fun Fact: Trifoliate Orange shrubs, also known as Flying Dragons, were introduced in the United States in 1850 in order to contain livestock. Similar to barbed wire, but with yummy fruit. The large thorns limbs act as a hedge of nightmares.
