Digestion and Discomfort Aid

Tummy Tea
Ingredients:
- Cinnamon
- Clove
- Goldenrod
- Yarrow
Directions:
Ingredients are incorporated together. Add about a tablespoon per 2 cups of hot water. Let the tea blend steep in hot water for about 10 minutes before adding sweetener of choice; if desired. My preferred choices being honey or maple syrup.
Note: Due to the clove and cinnamon, this makes a nice pairing in the colder months for those sweater weather loving friends of mine.

How does it work?
Let’s break down the properties of the above ingredients!

Cinnamon: Our digestive enzymes are stimulated from the cinnamon which can help break down food which in turn can relieve indigestion, bloating and gas. The same stimulant can aid in improving gut health which in turn helps those with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) or persistent diarrhea.
Side note: Cinnamon also reduces food cravings while also boosting metabolism with focus on the abdominal area. Meaning, also good for weight loss for those that are consciously watching this area.

Clove: While similar in some ways to cinnamon, clove adds its own helpful benefits as well. Not only does it aid in digestion by increasing one’s digestive juices; but it also helps to kill off bad bacteria while promoting better absorption of needed nutrients. This action can relieve indigestion, gas and nausea.
Clove also has the ability to thicken the lining of mucus within our stomachs which can help to prevent ulcers while also aiding in relieving symptoms of ulcers if already present.
Side Note: Clove also aids in improving liver function.

Goldenrod: This particular plant has anti-inflammatory properties which helps with cramping, bloating as well as abdominal pain.

Yarrow: What a plant! Yarrow helps to increase saliva and stomach acid which aids in bile flow by relaxing the smooth muscles in the intestine. In turn this action aids in relieving cramping pain and inflammation. While doing this task it also aids in repairing any stomach lining issues. Which is a big thing for those IBS suffering individuals like me.
